It's a snow missionary!

Thanks Elder Snow!

January 25, 2016

Hey everyone! This week has been really slow. It's because of the snow. So everyone here freaks out when it snows. They clear off the shelves at Walmart and everything! It was really cool because we got to make a snowman. During the week it was really foggy. It was really creepy but on that day, we found five new people to teach! It was really a miracle. We finally got in that night and realized what happened.

On Thursday we were told by the Mission President to stay inside. That was a rough day. It is never fun when you do nothing as a missionary. Then church was cancelled. Cancelled! All because if three or four feet of snow. Well, I guess the icy roads are the main reason. My companion is so used to the snow, but me from Arizona, I'm getting all excited over it. It was so cool to see it actually snow! I let Elder Overfield drive though, so we didn't crash.

This transfer has really been picking up. We are teaching so many amazing lessons. It really is a miracle to see people change. That is what is so great about this work. We get to invite people to be more like their Savior Jesus Christ. I am grateful for this chance to help people. Sorry this email was so short. Feel free to send me stuff throughout the week though. I can respond every Monday. I love you all and hope for the best in all you do. Thanks for your support! (if you haven't read this letter I'm attaching, do it!)

They are watching us.....

January 18, 2016

Wow! A lot has happened this week. Here we go.

So Elder Hunsaker is gone now. He is now home. Crazy right? He wouldn't stop saying how fast it goes by. It's so true, it's ridiculous. But his time is up and now he needs to get married. Smirking face
My new companion is Elder Overfield. He is sooo good! He is fired up and wants to get at this whole mission thing. We are gonna do real good, I can feel it.
Elder Overfield is someone who has to always be doing something, so every time I turn around he is cleaning the house or adding names in the areabook or something like that. He's been out for three months so I get to greenie bust him.

This week has been pretty rough on us. I got sick real bad. I usually don't get sick very often, but when I do I am SICK. My that killed me and I had the worst cough. My nose was so plugged up I could barely breathe. I felt horrible. To be honest I was not in the mood to talk to anyone or just do anything at all. I wanted to climb in my sleeping bag and be done with it. But I tried to go out and see people with Elder Overfield. I did the driving but mainly let Elder Overfield talk...but we did it! We taught some great lessons and I think we had helped a lot of people out. I think that helped my testimony grow ya know? Sometimes we have obstacles, road blocks, or stumbling blocks that get in the way of what we need to do. But when we push through them and do the things that are asked of us... I think that means more to Heavenly Father then just straight doing them. It shows it means something to us, that we really care about it. I know in some situations it isn't as easy, but it's possible.

1 Nephi 3:

7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

8 And it came to pass that when my father had heard these words he was exceedingly glad, for he knew that I had been blessed of the Lord.

So when you have a lot on your plate, it only means God knows you can handle it.
That's just something to think about.

Our ward mission leader has a saying that I really believe in. He says that you can't go wrong doing good. There are a lot of times where we have so many people to see or multiple choices we could make and routes we could take it sometimes makes us crazy. We get all confused about what to do. But I found out that as long as you are doing good, it doesn't matter what you do. Some days we try to do things and we end up teaching no one. We may end up offering somebody service or give our number to someone. But that alone is good! I found out the key to having a successful day. I feel like I have a good day when I 1. Feel the spirit that day, 2. Help someone in anyway. Do good to your fellow man. Whether it be teaching or serving or offering the gospel. And 3. When I learn something new. Whether it be church wise or something about life. This life is a learning experience, we should try to learn every chance we get.  This is what I have tried to go by and it helps me get through the slow and rough days.

On Saturday I got to witness a baptism for this girl I had the privilege of teaching. It took place in Livingston. I got to facetime in and it was great to see my Livingston family again! Elder Richins facetimed to and I saw him also. That was a cool moment.

Well I hope yall had a good week. It's good to here from ya. If ya need something let me know. I'm like Google. Ask me something.

Write yall next week!
Love, like, from, sincerely, yours truly,

Chapter 24: Leading the Charge

Hey hey hey! It's not quite fat Albert but I'm getting there😬

So let me take you on a journey to the land of Tennessee, where we teach people and go cat hunting.

This week has been very different then the rest of them. Lots of things that made it crazy, but in a fun way. We had an epic district meeting. It was very unusual because we held funeral services in the Winchester funeral home. And the person who died was....ELDER HUNSAKER!?

Yes sir. It's a tradition that the last district meeting of the departing missionary they take a funeral picture. When a missionary comes out he/she is "born" and when they go home they "die". So tomorrow Elder Hunsaker dies. We then had an exchange this week with our very own Jasper elders. I was able to have Elder Roth with me and we did really well. We were able to teach four lessons that day and they were solid. They were really amazing! I'm telling you, part member families is were it is at. This man said that he would soon join the Mormon church and he wants us to come back every week to meet with him now! Now is this guy prepared or what? During the lesson I felt like we should teach in brief the plan of salvation. Afterwards we find out the man lost two brothers and to know that he will see him again meant the world to him. Once again, I'm glad I listened. I have learned that when we listen, we get better at it. So I encourage you to listen really close, because when you act on what you hear, it gets much easier in the future to hear what is being whispered to you.

We got a really exciting call Friday evening from He mission president. That call was for both me and Elder Roth. He called Elder Roth to be a trainer right out of training and me the Altamont District Leader. We both were freaking out the whole car ride back to jasper. I know for sure now that God does NOT call the qualified, he QUALIFIES the called. Especially in my case. It should be great though. We have a great district and they are really a great bunch. Like I said to Elder Hunsaker, There are still good times ahead.

I have been trying to blend in with the locals here. I now am an avid cat hunter and have flannel lumberjack shirts and hats. I blend right in...except for not having a beard.

My new companion is Elder Overfield. He is just getting out of training and I will be greenie busting him. I get to meet the fella tomorrow.
Today we are taking Elder Hunsaker to say goodbye to everyone. He says every day how fast the mission goes by. He isn't joking, it's ridiculous how fast it goes. 1/4 of mine is sacked away now. It seems literally like yesterday it just started. My favorite quote is from our very own Elder Snow...

"The advice I have to give is to cherish every moment. Embrace every moment. Laugh at yourself. Don't kick yourself in the butt too much. And most importantly, be happy. I have to say that's what really shapes your mission and your future."- Matthew Snow

I agree 100%. It's hard to be happy when it seems you have nothing going for you, but it is possible. Just think of all your blessings! There is so much to be happy about. We just need to open our eyes wider.
I must be off but I love you my friends and family. Be good and may your fondest dreams come to pass.

Elder Hunsaker at Greeter Falls

January 4, 2016

What's happenin'?

Let me give you the rundown on this week's events.

This week really seemed more like a party week then a working week...thanks to New Years.

Most of the week has consisted of planning for super p-day. For the people that have no idea what I am talking about, on New Years Day we have the entire day to take a break relax I guess. We are also permitted to watch movies that our mission president allows.  Elder Hunsaker was really excited for super p-day. He spent almost $100 bucks on it! He bought all these drinks and food and he bought four movies.
It really made him mad because when the elders got to the church, they wanted to play sports all that day.  So we spent the day mainly playing Pakistani, basketball and volleyball. They got really into it. It was rather frightening at times. Our Elders love sports. I think it's part of their DNA. Not particularly my favorite...but it beats sitting and watching them so I played and found out I was pretty good at those sports. Let that be a lesson for you kids. Don't be scared to try something new.

Eventually, we were able to watch 2 of the five movies we had. We first watched the minions movie. That one as pretty funny. I like how most of there language consists of Spanish. Then we also watched Inside Out. I really liked that one. My favorite part was when the girl bumps into the one guy and it shows inside the kids head and he's freaking out. That made me laugh. I can attest to that one. Elder Crosby thought it was dumb and he didn't like it. It was funny because Elder Cushing sitting next to him was like, " that was the best movie ever! I could watch that one again. I cried more then once!" I was laughing pretty hard at that. He didn't seem like the kind of person to be into that.
All in all we had a good day. We had good laughs, played good games, and I think I have had enough soda to last me for ages!

Our success is getting gradually better in the teaching category. We were able to set up appointments to visit the investigators that have been attending church. They were there the whole time and I had no idea! This week we also were able find a new investigator! During the holidays I for some reason am drawn to all the houses with Christmas lights on them. As we were leaving this one house in our car, I had a good feeling about it. I felt like we should stop there. For whatever reason, we kept going and almost left the neighborhood. I felt it again..and I turned around and went back to the house. We went up to it and this man came out. We said we were showing a video about our savior and we wanted to share it with him. During the "Because of Him" video, he started tearing up a little bit. I could tell that he was feeling the spirit.  After the video we began to teach the restoration. He was really taken back by it and when we gave him a book of Mormon, his son asked for one also! He explained how he drove a semi and how this was his day off from driving. I love how Heavenly Father makes things work out.  If we didn't go at that moment, we probably would never have found him! We had another thing like that happen also. Every time we drove past this one house, I felt prompted that we should go to it. On Saturday I made a plan that we should go to it...but for what ever reason it never happened. The next day we went out with the first counselor in the bishopric and I asked if we could go visit the house. When we got up to the door the man came out and it turns out that the first counselor and the man were long lost high school buddies. It really blows my mind when things just seem to work out like this.  These little things are really amazing to me.

I also found out from Mickey that an investigator, Breanna Saenz, that me and Elder Richins helped teach is getting baptized on the 16th of this month! I guess when we first started seeing her, she was totally on board with joining! She said that her mom basically raised her Mormon without even knowing it and she was like, we'll if I act like one, might as well be one! She has been going to church and she bore her testimony yesterday! It is great to see the efforts you put into work pay off. And the best part about it is the girl is in a part member family.  If she gets baptized, the less active mom with for sure follow and eventually so will the nonmember dad. Its like dominoes...but better! Way better.

(Everybody tries to spoil star wars for us! It's hard to avoid it but we just to ignore it. And for some reason it's mainly the bishops family! There daughter was talking about it at lunch the other day and Elder hunsaker was really mad and he's like, stop talking! Your ruining everything!   He's okay now...I think)

Well, I love you all greatly and in case you forgot, their is always somebody who you can count on. Always somebody who knows that you can take on anything. Want to find out who it is? Go to this website

As always, my love is with you and if you need anything, please don't hesitate to write. I'd love to hear from you and answer your questions. Thanks!
Love you my children. May your fondest dreams come to pass.

The Force is with us!

Our Skype call on Christmas Day!

December 31, 2015

This week was wonderful! Very different then my other Christmases. So far every year I have been focused on myself honestly. It's always been about the presents. Every year I would wake up early and get everyone down to the tree so I could get my stuff and go. This year was quite different. I woke up early but on accident. I was kneeling at the foot of my bed because I had fallen asleep saying my prayers. I woke up and jumped into bed. I then woke up and instead of rushing g to the tree I waited and opened my gifts but then instead of going of to myself like I did in the past, I went and studied about the Lord then the rest of the day was spent helping others. I left the warmth of the house to go out in the cold and pouring rain to wish the lonely and downtrodden a merry Christmas and show them the love of Christ. I think this Christmas I did it right. I gave to Christ! I helped him out by helping others. This year I finally was able to really understand this scripture

Matthew 25
40...Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me...

That is the spirit of Christmas! That is what is is really all about.

I was so happy to see my family! That is honestly what I really wanted this year and I got it! It doesn't seem like it but it has been almost half a year since I last saw them! Wow. Not to mention Santa came and brought us flags! Idaho and Arizona.

I had an interesting experience I thought I'd share

We were out with a member and I had a subtle prompting that we should go knock on this house. I ignored it and we were leaving the city anyway. We then went back and I asked if we could go to the house. I felt good when we knocked on the door but when the lady came out we said we were the missionaries and she slammed the door on us. We walk to the car and this guy comes out and I thought he was going  to yell at us. He says sorry my mom is blind, what can I do for you. I said we had a short video about Christ and he turned and said oh we aren't interested and walked in the house. Usually that didn't bother me but this time it did. I don't know what the point of all of heat was but in the end I am glad I listened even if it means a slam in the face.

Today we went hiking at greeter falls. Tennessee is honestly the most beautiful state I have ever seen! I mean just look at it! I am glad I am here.
The time is short and I must be off but I love you and may you have a blessed day and yal come back!

Hey everyone!
Sorry for no email last week. You can thank my iPad for that. It decided to delete BOTH my really long and time consuming emails that I sent out. After it deleted the second time I threw it down and said I'm do e with this...so chapter 20 should have been called Tiwi Strikes and about the Christmas party zone conference we had and how we had a white elephant exchange also. We also got TIWIS. They are blackboxes that are supposed to help us. But ours thinks the speed limit is always 10 miles below that actual limit. So we always end up having people pass us or we are 'those 'people that cause traffic.

Anyway what happened this week!

This week we had a barbecue for pday. All the local elders came and we had a lot of good food!
We also did a cool picture for the Mormon.org website. It was pretty intense orchestrating it but it turned out in the end!

Tuesday we had a really neat lesson with a member. We showed he new video for Christmas this year. That video is so cool! We then talked about how Christmas time was the time to help those around us, how that is one of the ultimate gifts we can give to our savior.

Matthew 25
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

So we talked about how we can gift people the best gift of all and that us the gospel! We gave them some pass along cards to the Mormon.org website and invited them to share them with their friends or those they think who could use it. They liked that. Hats what I'd encourage yall to do. Give somebody the gospel and it doesn't have to be big, just invite them to church or give them a card or a book of Mormon or whatever, but give somebody a chance to hear the gospel because honestly, that is the best gift!

Mainly we have done a lot of service this week. We have been racking leaves for a sick member couple...but It's taking awhile because they own about 2 acres of land. It's been fun though because they have us put them to the burn pile... Everybody has one here! I love the south. We also were able to somewhat help with splitting wood for a member. I say somewhat because half the members in the ward see in the logging business so...they all came with their massive chainsaws and hacked three trees down and got them stacked in about an hour. We kind of sat and watched that one...but still.

We had a cool ward Christmas party on friday. We were part of the young men and women performance. They did the 12 days of Mormon Christmas. For two it was two years on a mission. When it got to us we put on another tie. At he end we had twelve ties in plus the ones we were wearing. For some reason everyone was amazed with the fact that we had that many ties. We were like "that ain't all of them." They also did the story if Conrad. I like that story. It is a good one. The primary also put on the nativity. That was funny to watch. Good times!

Sunday seemed to be our busiest day. We had our ward breakfast which was extremely good! And before sacrament meeting. We were able to visit a lot of people. There are do many good people here but so many less actives. The bishop asked a less active member and she said it is honestly laziness. She's like...yup it's people's laziness. It is so easy to get out of a good habit yet  so hard to quit a bad one.  And what can you do about that? To be honest there really isn't anything you can do about that. All you can do is keep loving and inviting. It's in their hands and they must choose for themselves. But we must never stop doing g what we can.

So star wars came out and it seems that everyone has seen it. I'm come on though..it can't be that good can it....?.......(Confounded faceLoudly crying face) I mean it only got like a 95 on rotten tomatoes so...(Confounded faceConfounded faceConfounded faceConfounded face)
Well I hope yall like it.

I want to add my witness of the savior and how he was born so we could have peace. The thing is if you want him  to prove it to you, you need to go to him. Read the scriptures, go to the Mormon.org website, ask someone that knows. I have had more peace and honest, true happiness because of taking  the time to discover him for myself. I guarantee the same result to all who try.
you need to discover him.
I'm ready for Christmas! It's not going to much of a hard working day. Especially new years. But I guess that's how it is so..alright.

I love you all and have a merry very happy super amazing lovelyful Christmas former Altamont Tennessee!
